Cloudy With Chances of Snow

Today has been quite the depressing day. I've decided to read up to chapter 11 in my Grapes Of Wrath book for Advanced American Literature. I need to have these chapters read by this Friday but I know I would never get around to reading it on the week nights. So I read 160 pages in two days. I locked myself up in my room for two days and only left when it was time for a meal and then working out. I read 80 pages on Saturday and 80 pages today.

(Yes, those orange papers are little sticky notes so I can annotate all through out the book).

However, this was no easy task. First off, this book is painfully boring to get through so my mind wandered almost every paragraph. This resulted in reading 80 pages in about five hours. And I still had to use SparkNotes.com to make sure I read everything correctly.

Today, I got a little creative. I downloaded the audio book of Grapes of Wrath and put the mp3 files on my iPod so I could lay in my bed and read the book. This made it much easier for me to focus. I was able to finish the 80 pages in about three hours! All finished with my reading homework this week!

(My cute green iPod plugged into my iHome speakers)

(I also cleaned my room while listening).

I know what you're thinking, "An audio book, Colleen? That sounds like cheating and plain lazy behavior. Just read the dang book, okay?"

And to that, I will respond: No. This is not cheating. This actually helps me understand the book better. The speaker actually keeps me interested. Also, I am not being lazy, I follow along in my book, too (except when I cleaned my room. But that only took 10 minutes).

And that's it for that homework. I still have to write a complete journal on those chapters and have it done by Friday. But I believe that will be easy. I still have to do my math homework, ugh ugh ugh.

Moving along, I feel bad that I missed church this morning so I could read my Grapes of Wrath book. So to make up for it, I pulled out my daily bible book. It's a really good way for me to read through the key stories in the bible in one whole year. I received this for Christmas:

Here's the book sitting on my night stand with my two favorite pictures behind it: One the left is Mani and I at the homecoming football game and on the right is Kayla, Mady, Myself, and Leah at Repossess (which is a huge concert event).

And here's the back of the book so you can read how the book works:

And lastly for today, I'm having pizza for dinner and then I'm working out and doing my math homework over at Mani's. Also, it's very cloudy out and the forecast says there's chance of snow. I sure hope there will be some tonight. Bye!
